well let me give u a lil background first
i have the worst luck in the world with cars it seems

over the past 8 months i have went through 4 used cars and i do proper mainetnace of course im getting these cars dirt cheap so figured its time to dig in and pay the note and buy a new car

i am very fond of the civic coupe for the price

so my question is if properly maintaned is honda a good car (dont wanna get into another headache of a car) now be honest please

btw i do plan on getting one brand new off the lot not a used one

i have seen people go get brand new cars off the lot like daewoo, saturn, etc and have problems in under a year so dont want to be in that situation

Get a Toyota anything and you are good until you die.

They are the best for

1.Quality

2.Reliability

3.Re-Sale value

4.etc......

Honda's are second. And are good, just not as good as Toyota!

Oh man, I think I just posted this in the wrong place, now I am going to get my ass kicked through text. Oh well, it's the truth :p !

Do your research. Compare vehicles you want and see which meets your needs all around. Yes Honda are good vehicles as are other manufactures. You will find that Hondas do in fact have such a strong reliability and a great resale value. Safety is there as well with the newer models. If you are interested in speed I would stay away from Honda cause thats not there strong point by far. Like you said above getting a new one will relieve alot of headaches. But before you go buying one, compare other vehicles in your price range. I had did the same thing over 2 years ago and the civic ex had what I needed at the time for the price I could afford. Other cars to consider would be VW and yes Scion.

Honda or Toyota have worked for me for several years, trouble free (your results may vary) Routine maintenance only. Not sure I would jump in on 8th gen Civic in the first model year though.

I've had my 01 EX coupe since it was new, 110,000 Miles on it now... and thats with 5 years of autocrossing and open track too.

0 engine problems
2. transmission problems (both were Known Flaws in the transmission and covered under warrenty)

I can honestly say that given the abuse the cars been through over its life time, its held up remarkeably well.... And by abuse I can say that the amount of time I've spent bouncing off the rev-limiter is in the minutes... (Some straightaways are too short for the next gear but too long for the one your in...)

My friends 94 Civic EX... 150,000 miles, routine maintenance only, except ignitor went bad after 140,000.

My 01 Civic HX... 60,000 miles, no problems so far. Usual oil change, tune-up and etc.

So far the Hondas are the best reliable cars that I had so far.

Before I bought a 2004 Civic LX I had an '86 CRX that I bought new and kept for 205,000 miles before I traded it in. I've always heard that if you don't change the oil religiously in a Honda, that you'll burn oil and need a ring job. It does seem like there are a fairly large number of Hondas around with around 70,000 to 100,000 miles on them that burn oil or that have already had ring jobs. My CRX started using about a quart of oil every 1,000 to 1,500 miles after it hit 150,000 miles (which didn't seem excessive). Having to replace the timing chains every 60,000 miles as part of regular maintenance seems kind of excessive and expensive, but you certainly don't want it to break which could result in damaged valves that would be even more expensive to repair.
