:banghead: HI, On Wednesday my 97 plymouth voyager 3.3 shutdown while I was driving at a lowspeed. I did not hear anything when ithappened but noticed my foot went all the way to the floor and I was slowing down--then ultimately all power was gone. I think itis an electrical problem because I get no spark when trying to start. I did the code thing with the ignition and got
12-54-55------12 and 55 are all good but I got two different meanings for 54 online can anybody help me?? 1) ignition synchronization unit (where is this)
2) camshaft sensor/distributor timing

I appreciate your help as I have no choice but to diagnose this thing myself.
Thanks in advance:)

I would interpret the code 54 as a Camshaft Position Sensor error and that it probably bit the dust. It may also be the Crankshaft Position Sendor but try the Cam sensor first. If you need to replace this yourself I can give you the installation instructions but you'll have to email me, they are rather long with the pics and descriptions. Not really hard to replace though. cheapest place to get one will probably be Autozone, the most reliable would be from NAPA. Here's some other service info off the web.

Thanks Steve,

everything that you sent me was was very informative. I will get the part tomorrow when the kids go to school and attempt to do this myself. Should I get a manual from my auto parts store? Do you think that will help me? Are they very expensive? I really appreciate your help!!!!!!!!

You might want to print out the info that I gave you the link to. You can also zoom the pics by clicking on them and print them also. A manual would probably run you $15, they are nice to have but you want to also check with your local library, they have have the manuals for check out?
