Ever since I've had my G. The trunk has never worked to open it with the key from behind thecar.

I never made a big deal of it, because I can always use the button inside the driver door. But I was thinking... "What if the button on the door breaks?"

I'd be screwed! Anyone know why it wouldnt work? I can put the key in no problem, but I cant turn it...

Does it work in the glove box? If not, then you have a valet key. If it does work in the glove box, than you have one of two problems. One: you have a bad lock cylinder or Two: the trunk lock cylinder has been changed at one time and you don't have the key to work it. If number two is the problem, then you can remove the lock cylinder and take it to a locksmith and he can recode the lock cylinder to match your key.

If its a bad lock cylinder how much will it cost?

Also, how do I take out the lock cylinder? =]

Does it work in the glove box?

Yeah, it works fine in the glove. Its the original titanium key that came with the car.

If you have not taken out the cylinder in your trunk lock yet, please be aware that you may be able to get a locksmith to change the tumblers internally to match your existing key. He should be able to do that with the cylinder still in the car. At least that is what I was advised by my Infiniti dealer.

Someone tried to break into my car (when it was new and owned by previous owner) and they never replaced the cylinder. The dealer told me I can buy a new cylinder, have it installed, then have a locksmith change the tumblers to match my current key.
