hello all i'm new to AF and after gathering a little info, i decide to enter this contest.

i'm into motorsport of all kind and mostly into rallying. i'm also the kind of guy who prefer to be in pit lane watching the car than looking at the race from the grand stand, if you know what i mean...

so here's my project. i resurected this one last april after sitting under the worbench for more than a year. at the time i had trouble with the engine and it discourage me so i push it aside. sorry i didn't have pics. of earlier stage:banghead: but at the time i didn't had a digital camera

this particular model is the protar one with white metal parts in it consisting of the frame and swing arm and parts os the front forks.

the engine cylinder are multi pieces slide over two screws to make for a real good looking air cooled engine.

i don't think i will be the winner of this contest with that model but i enter for the fun of it and since i probably won't have time to build something else i had no other choice.

i don' know how to qualified it (curbside or full detail) since it will be almost OOB so feel free to enter it where you want

here's the box of the model
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/426856BMW_1000cc_0_1-med.JPG

and here's a picture of the bike at this stage. kind of "naked" isn't it?
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/426856BMW_1000cc_1_1.JPG

this one is with most of the "big" parts
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/426856BMW_1000cc_2_1-med.JPG

and finally (for now) some test fit of those parts

please keep in mind that this is only my first bike and that it is very different than a car model
comments are welcome as long as they are of the constructive type

thanks, yelo

I think your model looks superb. Nice and clean.

These Protars are rare I think?

thanks guys for the comments

yes, i also think their pretty rare, so far i've seen two of them and by both. the other one is a yamaha ténéré 660cc that i'll have to build some day. that one is all plastic thoug. you should see the chaine of that one, every link is a separated part and when assemble is supposed to work just like a real one.

see ya, yelo

I have some good close up pictures of this very bike -it was on the BMW stand at Goodwood Festival 2005. I've uploaded them to a gallery somewhere but can't remember where! I'll let you know when I find them.

UPDATE

i had some time to model this week end, and since my girl friend is half way into her jigsaw puzzle, i had to put some time in it. she bet me before x-mas that she will finish her puzzle before i finish my bike.

so i had the decals to the front fender and fuel tank (parts are still in test fitting) and the hands protector on the handle bars
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e283/yelobike/BMW1000cc8.jpg

then i turn my attention to the seat. the model company supply a foam like, self adhesive material to simulate the cushion part of the seat. you can see on the pics. that this material had to take the form of the plastic part and since it had tobe foldup in one axis and down in the other axis, it was almost impossible to do. i hopted to fill the space of the foam with bondo and sculpted it to shape, then i'll probably glue a piece of thin black leather on it.

here's a pic. begining to fill the gap
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e283/yelobike/BMW1000cc10.jpg

and this one almost finish. i even had a small groove between the plastic part and the "cushioned" part
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e283/yelobike/BMW1000cc12.jpg

that's it for now, yelo
