:banghead: please help my 96 blazer the 4 wheel drive is inop, its the type that you manually shift on the floor/ front drive-shaft spins but the front tires are not, checked the actuator under battery tray and is in perfect shape and holds vacume it appears to be ingauged but front tires dont spin and also noticed that its always ingauged[ i took off vacume line and it disengauges then when i reconnect and start the truck it re- engauges so im not sure where to go please any direction in locating the problem would be great thanks

As far as the vacuum actuator being engaged all the time, that is the switch on top of the transfer case. Under your Blazer you will see 3 vacuum lines going to a switch on the top of the transfer case above where the front shaft comes out. You can unscrew this switch with a 7/8 wrench and try to get the ball plunger unstuck, or go get a new one, I think they are about $20-$30. I'm not sure on the front wheels not spinning. If you jack the front up and spin one of the front wheels, does the other spin in the opposite direction? This would indicate the front axle is engaged, which it should be if the actuator has vacuum applied.

thanks ill try that, i had it in to have all the ball joints replaced so we got to see it up in the air and you can see the front drive shaft is turning when the 4 wheel is engauged but like i said the front tires dont spin and was told its probably that actuator under the battery tray but thats working normal so thanks for the tip!!!!!:screwy:
