WARNING! Automatic Carwash!

I know that I'm very new to this post, but hey, I've only had my Ultra about three weeks...so I hope that I'm not beating a dead horse here. The reason that I'm posting this thread to warn all of you owners out there to avoid any automatic car wash business that boasts a 'Rocker Panel Blast' or an 'Underbody Blast' or anything similar to that. The reason being that I took my PA to a touchless wash down the street and after doing so realized that the undercarriage 'blast' pushed about 5 gallons of water, dirt, grit, & gravel up though the cabin vent in the trunk and into the luggage compartment. Needless to say, I was none to happy to discover this. Now, I don't know if this is a common thing or purely a freak occurance, but I just thought I'd let you all in on it. So this is to all of you that know and for all you newbies like me that are still discovering... all I'm saying is to watch out for that...because althought the carpet did come out quite easily, it's not something that I would want to do each time I need to dust the car off. On the flip side of that coin, I'd bet a buck my trunk is now much cleaner then most others out there. Late. Matt

Are you 100% positive of your assupmtion of the cabin filter vent and not a leaky deck lid seal?

Well, I have tried to rule everything else out. My conclusions come from the fact that the carpet in the trunk was dry and only the carpet in the spare tire well was wet(besides a small patch directly to the front of the well which I attribute to the carpet soaking up the water), the trail of grit and sediment leading from the well to the vent(or vice versa), and the built up sediment on the vent itself. I guess I can't be absolutely positive, but believe me I have thought of almost every angle(which included me in the trunk and a friend w/ a flashlight to check the seal to the decklid) and all the clues keep pointing to that vent.

Excuse me, I questioned it becasue A) I wasn't there, and B) out of all the water in trunk mysteries I ever HAVE seen, the majority end up being a leaky seal. So do pardon the offer of a suggestion, with that kind of attitude I won't offer anymore to you at all.

I shall now click on "Post Quick Reply" with the ASSUMPTION that the message shall go through.

Good day sir!
