Coming out of lock up

I have 94 Thunderbird with a 3.8 V6 and the trans keeps coming out of lockup. My Check Engine light is not on. Would I still get an error code if I hooked up a code scanner? Also, anyone know what I can do to fix the problem?

Is a 94 Thunderbird ODB2 or ODB1? I am pretty sure that it is ODB2, the connector looks like ODB2. I know ODB2 became standard in 96 but I thought I read somewhere where 94 and 95 Thunderbirds were ODB2. Can anyone verify this for sure?

Does the overdrive light flash? Your vehicle isnt OBDII, its EEC-IV. There is a connector in the engine compartment, on the right side sort of triangle shaped. This is your DLC. Clipped into the cover with it should be a connector with a single wire. Ground that wih the ignition on and watch the check engine light. It will flash codes. Post what it flashes and I'll see what I can dig up.

No lights on what it so ever. I'll give that a try and post the results. It's pouring rain probably won't be able to get to it until tomorrow.:frown:

Its does have ODB2 connector though on the passengers side on the left under the glove box. Unless that is for something else.

I noticed that it does this when the car warms up.

Only V8 94/5 Birds are OBDII. (Well they are, but not really. Kinda like a wanna-be.) Your 3.8L V6 Bird is OBD1. Beginning in 96, all cars regardless of options and engine, became OBDII.
