My 1997 Toyota Supra is no longer with us, it is now in a better place! So I am looking for a new car. I love VW and was thinking about getting a new Jetta GLI. I took one for a drive and MAN I was hella impressed! Drove like a dream! Any one out there have any input on what I should do, or which VW is a better ride!!!

Peace,
DJ

I just baught my A4 2002 Jetta and I have to tell you, it beats anything Ive ever riden in for a stock car. A few modifications to the suspension and it'll be the next F and the F car. I would buy the Vr6 if you dont plan to do to much to the engine, except maybe a turbo or super charger, or buy the 1.8T and add another turbo.
Yes, its a dream, and Im sorry to hear about your Supra... I just lost my Montero and I had some serious work done to it...

Just dont expect toyota quality from a vw.

The new VW have better quality than a toyota in my opinion. The interior sucks on a toyota.

Interior is not a strong point of a Jetta either ... on my 2001 the glove box door (43$) and the center console latch (16$) have both broken from normal use ... also there is that problem with the windows regs to consider when buying pre 2003 vw's.

I also had the rear "ashtray" replaced under warranty ... it was broken when I got it ...

...if you can find one, there is a slant 6 out there in the GLI series. My buddy got one because someone special ordered it from Canada but never picked it up. It's got more power than the VR6, 220 or 240 at the wheels, bone stock. From his words, "it can do almost anything under 130...But I havent tried it over 130 because that's all my tires are rated at". Oh yeah, get the manual if youre a driver of course. I have a 99 glx with an auto, and am not dissapointed with it at all, but there are times when I just wish I could have the manual. Get it and enjoy it, and anyone who tells you it's a chicks car, just take them to the track and show them.

I never heard of a slant 6. Is there anywere I could get more information on it? Hey does anyone know how fast a 2002 jetta GLI is in 0-60 or a quarter mile time?

ummm slant6?.... wtf ... I have never heard of anything like that for a VW ... any why would they sell it only in Canada? :sly: :bs:

I'll pull the flag down when I see proof ...

I did a search on vwvortex for slant 6 and nothing popped up. I would think north america's foremost VW forum would have at least one friggin thread with slant 6 in it.

No, I have checked and there is nothing on a slant 6 engine for a VW. I thought the only outing at a six was on the VR6, no other 6 for VW. There is W12 which is two VR6 fused together. This engine is only used in Buggati and for sometime in Bentley, that was until BMW took it over. So no, no Slant 6 sorry, you would need to prove it.
