56 T-Bird value

I know of a 56 that a guy wants to sell. I might buy it if the price is right, but I'm not sure what the value is. The last one of the classic 3 years that I had was a 55 and sold it back in 1977 when my dad got laid off so that we wouldn't lose the house. This 56 is in just fair shape. Hasn't run in 10 years. Not original paint, and it is faded. Couldn't find any rust, those bodies had some thick steel. Motor is froze. Has hard and soft tops. Someone has removed the continental kit at some point in its past. I figure I'd have to put in $10,000 after I get it just to take it out and not be embarassed. So, any ideas at what price wouldn't be a ripoff?

Hasn't run in 10 years? Missing parts. How's the chrome?
If it has no rust and no bondo. If its straight, I would pay no more than $500- and that would be high.
