I just aquired a 98 sebring jxi. The rear brakes are giveing me trouble so I am going to have them changed hopefully this weekend and also the battery light has been comeing on but I havent had any problems aside from the light. These are the only 2 problems I have ad so far but I wanted to now what else I have to look foward to and what I should keep an eye out for. Any advice would be helpful. The car has 60,000 miles on it. and has the v6 engine.

Thank you

Have you checked the owners manual for maintenace items at specific mileage?

When is the timing belt supposed to be changed?
Air filter every 30 k
When did you last flush the trans fluid? I would change it every 30,000 miles

air filter every 30 k? If you wanna get bad gas mileage then sure. The average mechanic says that you should change your air filter every other oil change(so every 6 K) but I do it every 3 k

I took it to my local dealership. They where really nice. The breaks turned out to be not the breaks at all but that they needed to be adjusted, They work great now. The battery light turned out to be the alternator which was covered under the entended warrenty that the pervious owner had paid for  I asked about the timeing belt they said it around 100 thousand miles, what is this about the trans fluid and the air filter though? I just had the oil changed as well. Any other ideas would be great.

Thankx
