Hi everyone.
I am new here and had a question, hopefully someone will be familiar with it.
I just purchased a 1993 fourrunner, has no oil leaks from the engine and doesnt burn out the tailpipe. I just changed the oil about 2 weeks ago and checked it yesterday and it is a quart low. Any ideas where it may be going to?
Thanks
Lisa

If you have the V6, check the area around the spark plugs closest to the firewall. The valve cover gaskets can develop leaks if not sealed properly and it tends to pool in the plug wells.

Did you check the oil level after you ran the engine for a couple of minutes after you changed the oil? If you checked it before you ran the engine and not afterward, it may be in the filter and elsewhere - being normal.

Also, did you check it on a level surface after it sat a few minutes? Either right after you drove it or on a hill would give you a bad reading.

Thanks for your replies.
I checked it after about 800 miles from the last oil change.
The truck was sitting for a while before it was checked and it was on pretty level ground.

I do have a v6, it has 156,000 miles on it. That didnt concern me when I bought it since my 1988 fourrunner had 230,000 on it, same engine and all, and it only lost some oil because on that one I know it leaked from the valve covers.
I dont believe the valve covers leak on my new one.
Though I just found out the power steering leaks bad.
How do they cover up these flaws when they sell cars LOL??
