Adapter for aftermarket power antenna...

I'm sure a lot of you have seen a ton of Buicks equipped with power antennas driving around with it stuck in either the up or down position, or just broken altogether. When mine went out, I went by autozone to get a whole new replacement motor. They cost roughly 40 bucks, but there is some fine print at the bottom that reads "May need adapter to fit into some GM vehicles". Sure enough, the antenna cable come from both the antenna and the radio are both male ended. I went back to the Zone, Oreilly auto, napa, Pep boys, and even radio shack, but to no avail! Does anyone know where I can get this mystery adapter the box warned me about? Luckily my current antenna's still in working order, just stuck in the up position, and that means no automatic carwashes for my Buick:(

That is a good question! I bought mine at advanced-auto and ran into the same thing! I searched everywhere as you did, even on-line, and I found nothing!

Finally I cut my two ends, spliced them together, soldered them, and taped it up. Reception is great. If you do this, just remember to keep the OEM side of the antenna wire from the car so if you decide to go back with the original antenna you can splice the old one back one.

I tried my soldering gun and it didn't work good. I used a small torch on low setting and it worked great.

Good luck!

Thanks Cntrysthbst, I'll give this a try when I get the time. It won't be the first "surgery" my PA has gone through!

Hey I found the adapter but I don't know if you have to buy the antenna or not. I would hold off, I contacted the person and am waiting on a response from them, I'll letcha know tomorrow. Cntrysthbst

Boy that is a hard to find item. I think you have to buy an antenna to get one.

This is the best I have done so far,

Go to ebay, type in the search box - 8028942745, press search. The adapter is included with the antenna. I have emailed them about selling just the adapter but have heard no response yet. I found this by typing buick power antenna in the search box. Maybe an option if you can return the other one?!

I already have the new antenna, so I think I'll just solder the wires like you did. It's something I can do at home, it's fast and it's FREE:D

FREE is a good thing! Sorry I couldn't help more. Good luck!
