I have a 1990 olds cutlass ciera. I have changed the fuel pump, sending unit, starter, and battery recently. I found the problem was an inline fuel pump fuse, however I keep blowing that fuse. I changed it once and it ran fine for a few days and then turned the car off and tried to restart the car, and the fuse was blown. I have tried numerous fuses and they as well blow as soon as I connect the battery, therefore the car will not start. I have traced the wires from the fuse to the starter, and starter to the battery, and now Iam at a loss. How can this be fixed? Please help me as Iam stumped and my car is sitting outside a bank, and I need to get this problem solved before the car goes missing.

Thank-you

Welcome to AF!

It sounds like you have a wiring issue with the fuel pump wiring harness. This happens over time and they make an upgraded wiring harness for most of these cars. Find the wires to the fuel pump and trace them down. I would have to believe you have a wire touching the body or frame somewhere. Unfortunately you will probably have to tow the vehicle to somewhere that you can get under it to do this repair. It may even require you to drop the tank down to get the the wiring on top of the tank.

Good Luck!
