I'm replacing the stereo head unit on my 97 escort. The instructions I have state to remove the temperature control cable assemble from the kick panel near the drivers foot feed in order to pull the radio/control knob assembly out. I removed a small clip on it, however I cannot pull it out. Is there a secret to removing this unit?

Guess I should of searched this site first because I found what I needed thanks to chevy....(couldn't remember the rest of his user name) has posted a great pictorial with guide lines to help.
