97 Cherokee having no hot airAmechanic 01-05-2006, 02:24 PM Hi all. I get no hot air in my 97 Cherokee. The blower works, just the air is not hot enough. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Jeepme 01-05-2006, 04:29 PM What have you checked so far? Is the engine temp up in the normal range? Do the heater hoses feel hot to the touch when the engine is running and the heater is on? Is the coolant at the proper level? Some causes are: thermostat stuck open, low coolant level, temprature control valve in hose inoperative or disconnected, clogged heater core, heater control cable disconnected or inoperative. coyote040 01-14-2006, 08:18 AM i have a 2000 sport with 115000 miles on it bought it used at 40000. just had the same problem, only had very minimal heat when engine was at high rpm, i went down and had the coolant system flushed and it fixed the problem, but beware it also exposed a previous owner quick fix and i had to replace the radiator. :sly: tri-q 02-14-2006, 08:37 PM I just had the same problem and I did a back flush through the heater core and it works just fine now. Saudade 02-15-2006, 09:45 AM Does air blow out of the different vents when you move the controls? As the others have said, check the hose (make sure they're hot), flush the system. If that still doesn't do it, there is blend door inside the ducting that cold be malfunctioning. They are vacuum operated so a small vacuum leak could cause it too. papawhoisbig 02-19-2006, 12:52 PM I have a 97 xj. I know it is leaking because I smell the coolant in the cab and the windows do not de-fog. I was looking for some ideas on how to replace the heater core. any info. would be grateful. Thanks Jake IMO, your request would be better served by starting a new thread instead of hijacking this one. That way, we can all respond to your issue without mixing topics and responses. o v man 02-22-2006, 07:56 PM Check your thermostat if so remove put on stove in hot water to boil see if it will open. If does check fluid level if full thermostat is in backwards or cloged. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
