needs some help... back window not working systemstech2006 01-04-2006, 09:36 PM
The driver side rear window in my 99 camry slipped down out of no where. I hardly ever use this window unless its nice outside. I took off the interior door panel and tried to look inside using a mirror and flash light. It looks like the grated C shape metal is not catching the teeth on the spin wheel. ( sorry IM not familar with car parts) Im not sure if its worn down or simple off alignment. The motor is still working, and you can see the wheel spining. It sounds fine too, but just not working hand in hand as it should be. Do I have to bring this in for a pricy repair or is there something I can do on my own. You should check that out unless someone has a more specific idea. DFBonnett 01-05-2006, 09:57 AM Ditto on the manual. The removal procedure for door panels on these cars is not intuitive. Pick up a Chilton or Haynes for about $20 and save damaging the panel. It is likely that the window regulator assemby broke. I just did the same repair on our "93. Got the motor/regulator combo for under $40 on Ebay. Side by side, it appears identical to OEM and functions perfectly. The hardest part of the job is the door panel removal and that isn't hard, just time consuming. Joe W 01-05-2006, 08:37 PM It does sound like the regulator. If you got the panel off, you can replace the regulator. Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
