More HP at the machine shop

I just dropped off my block and heads at the machine shop. Do you have a suggestion How to gain hrsepower.? I want to try porting and polishing myself. Is it worth the trouble? The motors have only 170 hp, correct?

Oh yeah.Its the 3vze V6. No other mods but I want Downey headers.I figure it will be easier to install with the motor out. Then drop in the motor w headers. We'll see.

V6 has 150 hp

I4 has 116 hp
