Look guys, I know I post alot here, and I am really sorry, I just don't want to make any mistakes..

Anyway, someone offered me a 1995 Escort Wagon 1.9L with an automatic tranny in it. 100 dollars, as is (has no sensors in it)

My car= 1996 Ford Escort 1.9L LX hatchback with an automatic transmission..

The wagon's Engine is good, and the transmission is good.

I read that there are two models with different ratios in the 1995 Escorts. I really don't wanna make the mistake of two dead cars in my driveway, ya know? I asked the people on the Forums of the FEOA but I didn't get a answer that I can completely trust yet. I do trust you guys, as I have been posting/replying to people's posts for a little over a month now.
Once again, I do apologize for the frequent posts, and I don't blame you if I am anoying to you.

Do you think it will be better or worse? Eh.. My 10 second 0-60 with my regular transmission=crap, so I wonder if considering it is a station wagon, if it's slower.. This is probably the best route to go though in the money department.

im not sure what grats you are moving to or from, i know the ZX3 guys liek to try and use teh LX auto for getter gearing

Well my car is already a LX just has a different geared tranny than the wagon. if the new one has a lower gear ratio, that would most likely make it faster off the line, but slower over all right? or is it vice-versa? Ah well, im going to go look at the wagon tomorrow and I'll post more info about it.

I realize there are different ratio tranny's..BUT! pret near ALWAYS! when Hollanders(the Bible used by wreckers.) says a part will interchange..they mean it.As a simple bolt in.IF there are fit issues/adjustments/ mod's they almost always note them.There is also the other side.They often do not say that a particular part will fit..sometimes by breaking a few small rules it does work.Sometimes this is noted.Not always.

If you want to be faster from swaping out trannies, then just swap in a 5 speed.

Well I figured I would bring you guys up to speed with my little 2 month transmission problem.

I looked at the wagon, it had 144 thousand miles on it. The guy said it ran fine, and the transmission was fine, but he wanted 100 bucks for it and there was no way to test it because the air box was out of it, and no battery. My dad and I felt that spending 100 dollars on something, that we didnt even know would run or not. Because after towing it to the mechanics, then having it towed to my house (I would use it for a parts car for a while), not to mention the price that the mechanic would charge to remove this transmission, that it wasent worth the money considering we did not even know if it was as good as the guy said. (the car was in pretty rough shape cosmetically). So I found a Tranny from a 94 hatchback with 84 thousand miles on it, and a 1 month warranty on it. I figure this was alot cheaper to get it this way with the transmission already out, no towing, nothing that major, it is more worth it, because it is 175 bucks, and it would be more like 300 bucks with that whole car after everything. Too bad I don't have money, or else I would go get it. The guy there told me that the 94 transmission would bolt up to my engine, but he wouldent be responcible if it ruined my engine due to the different ratio's. I don't know whether to be worried or not. Haha, well I will post and let you guys know when I come up with the money and buy it, unless one of you guys tell me other wise.
