I was just recently told that the 3800 engine has a habit of burning the inside of spark plug wires in a short time, causing misfire . Has this been verified by members of this forum and eventually, any explanation found? I've not experimented this with mine so I'm somewhat skeptical.....

That's news to me. I'd be very skeptical about that claim. The OEM AC Delco spark plug wires and spark plugs are normally good for at least 100K miles or more. Of course, there may be exceptions.

However, there may be problems like misfire when using aftermarket plug wires or multi-electrode type platinum spark plugs.

THanks and Interesting..the author (or messenger) of the claim precisely mentioned he used platinum spark plugs...still seems strange to me anyway.
