Original Alarm not workingHellcatbyte 01-02-2006, 06:07 PM Good and propserous 2006 people! I have gone through almost the 86 pages of this forum and I did not find any thing related to my problem I have a 2001 Neon 2.0 Stick shift 5 speed tranny and has only39,000 miles (wifes car) It seems that the alarm is not engaging when you push the alarm button it is the "guitar shaped" on the keyholder, does not even make a sound or hump! (horn ok). It is just a simple (no automatic door locks or anything) alarm. I have checked the 2 batteries on it and each has 3.4 volts. I have the two set of keys and neither one works. I would not like to in$$tall a new alarm as probably they have a "fuse" somewhere?. Can anyone Help please Hellcatbyte davidwilson21401 09-24-2006, 05:45 PM You might want to check two switches, one under the hood on the passenger side, and the other is integrated into the trunk latch mechanism. The one in the trunk is an issue, sometimes the prev. owner has had it disabled (pulled the power lead) because of "false alarms" (moisture and temperature changes cause it to think the trunk has been opened, especially at night... not good for neighborly relations). You know how to use a meter, check em' out. Also as a note/question; does the "security lamp" work on the dash? Good Luck! Good and propserous 2006 people!
