How to tell..Scott Wiiki 01-01-2006, 09:03 PM Found a 100 dollar escort wagon. Automatic, you know, 1.9 liter engine.. What I need. It's one year off, and I was wondering if the transmission would bolt to my engine.. I heard that there is a different bolt style between the 95/96 in some.. Is there a way for me to tell? I'm pretty sure you guys know about my car by now.. But.. 96 escort LX hatchback/ 1.9 Liter SEFI/ 4 speed automatic. Any way I can make sure I dont waste 100 bucks? Thanks -Scott AltecZX2 01-02-2006, 02:07 AM why not just buy a5spd? AzTumbleweed 01-02-2006, 10:48 AM If you can find a nice guy at the Ford dealer parts dept then have him check to see if it was the same part number both years. Scott Wiiki 01-02-2006, 01:46 PM Well that would be nice, but I just figured there was a simple way to tell if it was the correct one or not. When I do searches at different websites to see if they have my part, if I use 1996, I get SOME 1995 escort transmissions to show up. And when I look up 1995, there is two different types of transmissions, a TJ and a TX with a different ratio or something. I wonder if the VIN tag tells you... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
