I had the same problem w/my 00 SS its a relay for the sending unit the connections are bad take it to your dealer and they will fix it i hope ur car is still under warranty not sure on the cost of repair

My 2001 SS just recently did the same thing after a 1,400 mile trip. The fuel mpg reading on the DIC was acting weird too(reading 40+mpg). I filled the tank and so far no problem the last few days. I was guessing it is the sending unit in the tank. It goes for $92 on rockauto.com. I also read it could be a BCM problem which is more expensive. I hope it fixed itself cause I hate going to the dealer.....$$$$$.
