1.9 oil filter blowing offkitsapchopper 12-30-2005, 04:39 PM 87 ford escort pony 1.9 keeps blowing the oil filter seal when i start it up when cold ,runs fine for the rest of the day after i put it back on and refill with oil .any ideas of who what or how it happening ?? AzTumbleweed 12-30-2005, 07:04 PM Sounds like you may have two seals. See if there is an extra seal stuck to the engine. If there are two seals it'll create major leaks! I'm assuming you have replaced the filter since this started. If it only does it cold then try the lightest weight oil you can find. (Motorcraft has a 5W20) Tighten the filter down real good with a filter wrench. kitsapchopper 12-31-2005, 08:40 PM 3 oil filters did the same thing.used 10w40 oil. put a crank kit in it ,.so far as i can figure it must be the oil pump putting way too much oil pressure output.maybe the plunger is stuck open or close ,what a pain lol AzTumbleweed 01-01-2006, 08:53 AM Did you check to see if a second filter gasket is stuck to the block? Is the rubber gasket actually blowing out? Maybe try siliconing the gasket in place on the filter then tighten the hell out of it with a filter wrench. Strange  kitsapchopper 01-03-2006, 02:05 PM found the oil pressure releif valve stuck in the pump freed it up and no more problems , vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
