My dad has some questions about a 56 Bel Air 2 door that he has. Here they are.How much does it weigh? With a ZZ4 engine, what do people use for distributors, and harmonic balancers?Does the ZZ4 have to be sidemouted or does it have provisions for frontmounted, or is it only sidemount? What rear end gears would you use, it would be for street, and cruising mainly. He also wants to know if a 700R4 would work good with this application. I would appreciate the help. Also if you know any good Bel Air websites, for messageboards, stats, or anything helpful like this, i would greatly appreciate it :)

I'm don't know to much about Bel Airs. But for street gears, if your nto running at the track I would run some thing in the high 2 - low 3 range (like 3.13 if they make it) it would get you gas milage on the street and highway. And 700R4, I hear they not to good in high power applications, so if you not runing high horses then you should be alright, the TH400 works real good also for a 3spd auto.

the turbo hydro 400 is defentally the way to go with a zz4, and for the street eather go with 3.73's (or is it 3.83s?) for just pure hauling ass, or as the man said, 3.18 would be a great gear for crusing, and would help to launch, ,a lil slower but you would get traction, and have a great top speed. As for mounting...it should be mounted like any other chevy of those years, front mounted. (flywheel pointed twords rear)
