1997 jeep cherokee air bag module?jwoolls 12-29-2005, 10:56 PM can anyone tell me where the airbag module is located and what it looks like? MT-2500 12-29-2005, 11:10 PM It is under your rear end and not the one with 2 wheels. Or in other words you are sitting on. Under the left seat. But unless you are trained on air bag repair do fool with it. Let someone that is work on it. Them things can kill/injure you in a split second or save you life when needed. They are just like a loaded shotgun shell so be carefull out there. MT  :grinno: :lol2: jwoolls 12-29-2005, 11:46 PM Thats where the impact sensor used to be installed before they integrated them into the air bags, now I understand there is a module mounted elsewhere.. Thanks for the info, but I am well aware of the precautioms needed in this procedure. MT-2500 12-30-2005, 10:21 AM The only one I show with a extra impack sensors is a 96 G cherokee. It has one in the control module and two on rad support. The rest the impack sensors are made in the air bag module under drivers seat. You might check with your dealer to be sure. MT jwoolls 12-30-2005, 04:47 PM The module is located under the center consol in the back. This location is on all 97 thru 01 models. The reason for the inquiry in the first place, is My mechanic and I are in the process of rebuilding my totaled 97 country which was T-Boned on the driver side front fender. My insurance company totaled it. The damages were left Fender & molding, left frt end bumper & bumper, Header panel, Axel and a number of other items including the driver and passenger air bags which both deployed. We found a ragged out 97 sport on craigs list out of wash DC for 1500$ which was perfect being I live in Alex va. We are using the sport for parts and I've ordered body parts from a wholesale dearler which are due in a few days. I am documenting this from day 1 with Pics and log from accident to completion. I will show the process on this site when completed. In the mean time I purchased a cherry 98 jeep cherokee Limited which I'm starting to enjoy very much. I Love the cherokees and have not found a vehicle more enjoyable. I went to Jeep dealership and looked at the commander and sorry to say was not impressed. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
