Hi all, new to this forum! Hope everybody had a good x-mas!
Now to bussines....Car involved: 1996 Buick Regal GS with the 3.8 and auto. 108000 on the clock.
My friend has this car since 98 and 30000 miles, earlier this year developed a coolant leak he never took care of it, until last week when his serp belt broke and overheated the engine. He ran it hot for about 5 miles. The leak was outrageous in the next couple of days. He took it to his mech and said needed and intake man gkt. So I having a previous experience decided to help him out. (I, not a mechanic but play around a lot)
When we had the intake out we also saw another piece that was cracked (for me, this was the problem in the first place) it is a plastic tube (an elbow) that comes from the upper part of the water pump and to the intake. Dealer part only, when we got the new one it came with 2 o rings (1 in each end) ok the problem is that when we took the pieces out of the intake we found 3 seals, 2 smaller and 1 bigger. The intake gkt set came with 3 also. To make a long stoy short we couldn't figure out where to put the bigger seal, so we decided to go ahead an put the elbow just like it came from the dealer.
My question, does anybody knows if 1 of the end uses 2 orings? it fits tight, and I doubt theres oom for a second oring. but who knows it was somewhere. We test drove it and it is not leaking (yet!)

Now comes a newbie mistake:
What is that plastic tube, about 9 inches long and kind of curved "L" shape, that goes inside the plenum and attached to the gasket? What does it do? Ok, I really need a kick in the a$$, well...I forgot to put it back in . please tell me that it was a part they decided to eliminate due to not doing anything important....but if it is important....ok I need some practice anyways....ohh well...
Thanks guys.!

Ok, sorry about the big pics....
In the first one, to the far right you can see the plenum gasket with the tube mounted on it. Second and third pics shows the tube itself. Any idea anyone?
TIA.
Juan.
BTW, the car is running excellent now, and no leaks detected so far!

Might be the connecting tube for the pcv valve under the map sensor.
