engine groundtypeblu 12-29-2005, 02:50 AM hi so i got a 64 nova and im getting no spark from the plugs from spark from the coil. new cap and rotor, so im tinking theres a bad ground. could anyone tell me where the grounds are at so i can check them? the only one one i see is from the battery to the engine. 70Nova05 12-29-2005, 10:51 AM There should only be two grounds. One from the battery to the block, or more commonly the bracket to the alternator, and one from the engine block to the frame or firewall. Check that both are good. If the engine turns at all and you have lights, both grounds are at least working. If that is the case, look at the distributer or ignition circuit as the distributer may not be getting sufficient, or any power while cranking. cable_t 01-02-2006, 10:04 AM hi so i got a 64 nova and im getting no spark from the plugs from spark from the coil. new cap and rotor, so im tinking theres a bad ground. could anyone tell me where the grounds are at so i can check them? the only one one i see is from the battery to the engine. If you have any working electrical accessories at all then the system is grounded for the most part. Like 70nova05 said you need to look at specifics now. Since the plugs aren't sparking then trace the system all the way back to the battery if neccessary. It's a circuit, not the whole system. bobss396 01-03-2006, 09:46 AM Take the coil wire out of the distributor cap, ground it to the block while someone cranks it. If you don't see a spark, replace the coil. Bob dunovacure 01-18-2006, 08:14 AM Take the coil wire out of the distributor cap, ground it to the block while someone cranks it.
