I have been having this problem intermittently now and then, what happens is when you put it into gear, any gear and try to accelerate, the engine will barely accelerate and shudder. If you put it into neutral or park and try to accelerate, it will top out at around 4k rpm and stop accelerating. turning the car on and off a few times sometimes corrects it. I also get no check engine light. The last time it did this, it was the worst, it was also stalling in addition to the other stuff. I started it, then shut it off and it would not start, just cranked, and after much cranking started again, and then drove fine! Drove it home, everything was fine, then the next morning the same thing happened, I had it towed to a chrysler shop and they couldnt find a problem. has anyone heard of this?? Its an 02 sebring sedan with the 2.7l v6 and has 46,000mi. Thanks!

I had this problem with a Dodge Intrepid with the 2.7. Turned out that the timing sensor on the front of the engine had failed. The dealer diagnosed and replaced it under warranty.

What really is annoying is thats I took it to a dealer to get it fixed (I have a GE extended warranty) and they could not find a problem, the mechanic said the computer didnt register anything wrong.
