1993 Camry Cruise control problem horseandog 12-26-2005, 02:32 PM
It seems to be hit and miss if the thing is going to come on or not. Once it is working things operate just fine. When it doesn't want to work the cruise light still comes on, but does not want to engage. Brad Brian R. 12-26-2005, 03:26 PM Check the electrical connector to the Cruise Control actuator (next to the battery and behind the radiator). Take it apart and reseat it firmly. AccordCodger 12-26-2005, 05:51 PM Smae advice I've given over and over - check the cutout switch. It's operated by the brake. horseandog 12-30-2005, 01:10 AM It seems to be hit and miss if the thing is going to come on or not. Once it is working things operate just fine. Brad The cutout switch was just replaced about 2 months ago and I feel that it is good. but I will try and reseat the connector by the battery. Thanks Had a similar problem on my 91; traced it back to the switch at the parking brake. Something had gotten down in there over the years and the bracket had gotten bent down so the switch wouldn't fully activate and the brake light on the instrument panel would wink on, whenever that happened the cruise would shut off. Pulled the console, tweaked the bracket returning the switch to its proper position and voila! cruise has worked fine since. Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
