95 Caravan won't idle---help?

Howdy again folks. I need to pick the "collective brain" again. Hope Y'all can help. I'm sure someone can.

Have a '95 Caravan with the 3.0 litre engine. Starts right up, and holds a steady high idle, but if you let off the accelerator, it dies.
Previous owner says it's been at least 3 years since tune up. I'm hoping all it needs is a cap, rotor, wires and plugs. Here's the question...
Does the 3.0 litre engine "forget its idle" as a GM sometimes does if you disconnect the battery? The reason I'm not convinced it is JUST a tuneup is this: If you hold it at 1500 RPM or more, it sounds fairly smooth. Lopes just a little bit, but nothing really major.

Could a weak spark caused by bad cap and rotor and old plugs allow it to run smooth under light acceleration but be weak enough not to hold an idle, or do I need to look at fuel filter or other items?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Merry Christmas

you should clean the throttle body bore with a good carbon cleaner and an old toothbrush and make sure the battery is good if it drops too low the pcm will loose the adaptive memory and ais counter causing your stalling and tune up is always a good thing runs as efficient as possible

it may be the IAC. if the IAC is stuck closed, the engine will stall because it doesn't get any air. it'll work when you open the throttle plate, but once you close it, it cuts off the air and the engine stalls. Is the service engine light on?

I think you are looking for a problem.

I would always know when it was time for a tune up in my 95 Caravan - it wouldn't idle. (and there's no idle adjustment screw!!)

New cap, rotor, and plugs is all you need.

no service light and self diagnostic with KeyOn/Keyoff shows 55 Last I heard, that was a good code. Howver, thank you for the IAC idea. I'll look into that and into cleaning the bore. thanks
