My car was stolen from Oregon. It was my baby and i want her back soo bad. It is a red 2 door 1990 jeep cherokee Sport. She had no tire rack (it was taken off in an accident) She has stickers (if they havn't been removed) a fox racing sticker in the front and and a Roxy sticker on the back window. the plates that were on the car at the time it was stolen Are 947 BWL oregon plates. it was stolen from hillsboro Or, and was last seen in Portland off of Glisan. if you have any info please call the hillsboro police department. or you can e-mail me @ Ashleyjessijennee@go.com Thank you so much for reading and keeping in eye out,

p.s From as far as i have tracked it so far i think it might be headed for washington. Thanks

That really sucks. You might want to also post on the Off Topic, your thread will get quite a bit more reading.

Good luck with the recovery.

I got it back. How much does it cost to replace the steering column. Also, now it doesn't wanna go over 45 miles per hour and will not kick into overdrive any ideas anyone?

By your question I'm thinking you didn't have it insured.....1990 don't blame you.

Cost for the steering column will be couple hundred, check at your local junkyard for the replacement.

The 45mph....I'd check for an exhaust restriction, maybe the cats? Dunno, without more description. Not going into overdrive indicates transmission issue.

Sounds like they took it for a joyride, then dumped it.

Yup, thats exactly what i think happened. No i didn't have insurance that covered that. Even though it's a 1990 it WAS in excellent condition. They hot rodded the engine and thats not how she drove. Everyone knows the capability of there own vehicle, and when someone else who doesn't know how to drive it takes it, it's bad news.
Thanks!

It does sound like the exhaust is plugged. I'd have the backpressure checked before you spend money elsewhere. This can also keep it out of overdrive since the computers see a high throttle angle and assume its under high load.

I have another question about Some damages. You know that little fucking fin window? If I went to U-pull it, and bought one off another car, would it be easy, (or possible) to do it that way instead of paying someone 100 bucks to do it? And also, Whoever stole my car, punched the ignition,(which means they came in through the other side of the steering column) do i have to replace the ENTIRE steering column?

Whoever stole my Jeep, stole my chilton out of it. Bastards.

I'd think you would be able to replace the window yourself.

As far as the steering column, you'll only need to replace what has been damaged. The column itself is probably fine, just the guts of the ignition cylinder and maybe part of the shroud.

This is a fairly small town where everybody knows everybody, everybody knows my jeep, well I used to leave it unlocked most of the time and my friends would go in and out of it all the time (I'm always finding pocket knives, change, I've even found a 6 pack in it:P)

well this one guy that I know but am not really friends with (mostly because he's an annoying, Arrogant, dumbass, anyway...
I drop my keys in the youth building and he finds em, so he takes my 92' cherokee larado for a joyride, bottomed out the speedometer, he was taking 40mph corners at 80, and ditched two cops..

he took it off road and smashed out one of the headlights and drove it til it just about ran out of gas. I've locked my doors since

Locking your doors really wouldn't help if you lost your keys somewhere :p

You know, they make a car locater for cars now, it might be worth it, well at least to look into anyways, just a thought.

Yeah, i've looked into it. It's like 600 bucks for a gps thing, thats all they have in my area. I have a lock i put on the brake at night, for now thats gonna have to do..

A lock on the break.. mmm. As long as the theaf is not smart, he will not try to take out the trans lock wire, this is the wire that makes you put your break on before you shift out of gear.

sorry to hear about the jeep. I hope you get it back. for a gps, i use a tomtom go, which at the time was around 700 dollars. since I got i've used it, i;ve been reading up on it and I;ve heard of numberous occasions where the thief is caught because of the gps.

The steering column is the biggest flaw in the cherokee. I am rebuilding a theft recovery 94 country. The steering column was broken, it is amazing how easy it is to steel these things. You have to replace the entire column when fixing it, or at least I would suggest you do so. When I went to replace it I found a million steering columns that were an EXACT MATCH...broken plastic and all. If it makes you feel any better, I got my new column for 100 dollars from a local junkyard and it didn't take much to change it out. As far as the shifting thing, it sounds bad. As far as the 45 mph thing, it sounds just as bad.
