3kgt vs CivicVR43000GT 12-19-2005, 04:03 PM I was by our downtown viaduct Friday and came upon some guy with a 04 or 05 civic. My 3kgt is a N/a (DOHC) but I still finished him off by about 2 car lengths at about 105 mph. Not much of a race but it was my first with this car so I figured I'd share it. I later lost to a 2001-2002 Grand prix GTP supercharged by al little over a car length at 55mph(we were in town) Musashi3000GT 12-19-2005, 06:23 PM Did the civic actually edge you on or where you just beating him cause you wanted to too? I hate it when people assume that just cause its not a VR-4 it cant run. how come the N/A 300ZX guys never get this kinda dissrespect? a civic thinking he could run a 3KGT is like me thinking a can hold onto a SVT Cobra or a C6 Vette! Nice kill none the less! VR43000GT 12-19-2005, 06:32 PM I just pulled up to the stop light heading southbound over the viaduct and a black civic with a big old muffler happend to be next to me. He edged forward a bit and I just held my ground not edging forward at all and we both took off at the green light. Nice kill none the less! l aggree man.. a civic thinks that he could run with those cars.. l just dont understand.. a friend of mine, he has 96 accord, he got maybe 120 hp or less:) and l got 97 formula with flowmaster.. he told me that he could beat me.. l just laughed.. we took of lie 25 mph. l hit the gas, 3 seconds later l saw him on the mirror.. :) but they still think that they could run with these cars.. l think we better start to run with vipers, c6 vettes or SVTs :D:D Burnerdominator 12-20-2005, 02:39 AM But you have to take things into the bigger picture like weather, driver skill etc this things have major influences on winning and losing Underground_Killah 12-20-2005, 04:19 AM yes but unless the person in the vette is borderline dead (or having a heart attack) that's about the only thing that will allow a civic a possibility of winning. sorry, but some cars are not able to beat others. Now closer cars (v8 camaro, v8 stang, and Nicely built 240sx with the swap turbo all are close to par, it is then when those attributes matter the most. Vip09 12-20-2005, 05:30 AM I remember back in the day when I first got my car.. civics used to try to race me. Everyone around here knows me now.. so none of the people that hang out on the weekends want to race me anymore :( Alaa_Turbo 12-20-2005, 08:07 AM Good kill, your car is Base model, right? VR43000GT 12-20-2005, 06:26 PM Good kill, your car is Base model, right? No its the DOHC SL. RaidenKing 12-23-2005, 01:45 AM dude, I've never seen a civic with a bodykit/muffler/spoiler that didn't want to race whatever sporty looking car they found themselves next to. When your facing a car with purely exterior work done, you're really just battling an over-inflated ego and there is no harm in causing those people to realize their cars aren't the fastest things in the world. As far as weather and skills...Weather would have had equal influence on both front wheel drive cars. SL3000GT could have been shifting a few hundred rpm's below perfect and still would have won with just the most basic knowledge of driving. I always get such a nostalgic feeling reading up on 3000GT victories. Good kill man. SL models always had the DOHC engine, where as the later base versions of the 3kgt had weaker SOHC engines. For a while though, the base and SL models both shared the same DOHC motor. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
