Well, this is Chrysler's first real SUV. It's based on the Dodge Durango.

I think that if it has the success of the 300, then it'll murder the Escalade and new Navigator. If anyone finds modified pics of it, or any pics at all, post them here.

This looks like a nice vehicle. But they should have come up with an original name. Whenever I hear the model name Aspen, I get mental images of the old Dodge version of the Volare. Not a good image, if you ask me.

They chose the name Aspen because of the ski town in Colorado. It's rugged, yet upscale. So its a fitting name for a luxury SUV going against the Escalade and Navigator. It has no ties with the ho-hum sedans of yesteryear.

I agree.

We all know the Aspen was named after the ski resort (and not the tree)

But the old Dodge Aspen has crucified the "Aspen" name forever more.
It's like GM would never call another vehicle a 'Vega"

Why not call it after another Colorado ski resort, like "Summit" (Chrysler owns that name anyways) or 'Vail??

Anything but Aspen.

Hey, "Summit" could work...

"Vail" is good, but probably wouldnt work.

IMPORTANT:

I just recieved a reply email from Chrysler regarding the Aspen. They aknowlage the existance of it. But it isnt going to be produced nessicerily. They say its a concept. Judging by the spy photos, it looks pretty production ready. So I'd expect it to be revealed at the Detroit Auto Show this month.

Original reply (from the email):

"Dear Kyle:

Thank you for your email regarding the Chrysler Aspen concept.

We are pleased to read of your interest in the Chrysler Aspen concept.
At this time, DaimlerChrysler has not released any official information
regarding future production of the Aspen concept vehicle.

We have documented your interest in the Chrysler Aspen concept and we
encourage you to stay in contact with us through the Chrysler website
(http://www.chrysler.com)."

Yet in the reply, they stay tight lipped about the Imperial concept to which I had also inquired. But I wasnt too surprised about that.

So there definatly IS an Aspen one way or another.
