Friday night I decided to hook up with my boy Drifty cause our friend got a Jetta 1.8T and I was eager t0o celebrate. The plans to get together and chill didnt fall through so I told the wife we could still go out and have dinner since she had already gotten all dressed up.
Fast forward 2 hours and I am on the road at about 10:00 p.m. buzzing through a two lane black-top with a huge wall on one side and a forest on the other. I pulled up to a light and took off kinda spiritedly cause I was damn hungry. I was up to about 70 when I see these little lights in the distance comming up quick and zig zaging from one lane to the next, I speed up to about 80 but then I got curious, what was it that was chasing me?
I pull back and hit the brakes so this guy can pass me and I can see whats messing with me. My jaw dropped when I saw this pea lime green 95 Nissan Sentra with an SE-R logo on the back. my wife looks over and just goes "awww gimmie a break! what a retard!"
I look at the guy like "yeah right bro"

the dude drops a gear and takes off, I didnt need to drop gear cause I had left it in third at 3500 rpms right where my torque curve pulles the best. he got about a half car and I matched his speed, we held side by side for a second and right as I was getting into 5500rpms he shifts.
all I hear is PPAAAAKKKK. I pulled a full car, then shift, put another 2 cars behind him, shift again, now the guy is like half a block back there and I'm doing like 110 on a curvy two lane. he was done for, completely killed him. My wife looks back and asks "did you hear that blast? was that a BOV or........"
me: nah, I think it was backfire, he might be straight-piped.

right then the guy flys by me and throws on his blinkers.....
it took me a full 2 seconds to realize my foot was on the break, I was breaking cause I was going 110, My foot was still on the breaks.....he flew by me and saw my brake light and still thows on blinker? WTF?

I chase this clown down and catch him at a light. as I pull up to him hes giving me a smirk like "yeah and what"

I wanted to jump out and punch his fat cheaks in but I figured I smoke him again and get it on film.

I pulled up ahead and peeked back, yup he had a huge intercooler and that PPAAAAK sound was a cheap ass BOV that sounded more like a baby bottle with a spring in it.

all that work putting in an SR20 and he still gets smoked by a 15 second 12 year old 3s....tsk tsk.

I don't see how an SR20 with enough done to necessitate an FMIC would lose to a stock/lightly modded 3000GT NT, but good kill I guess.

I know two guys with SR20s in thier 240s. one is a white 91 240 which is really messed up and just look like he pulled it out of a junk yard but he does have and sr20 in it and he runs 15.5-15.4.
the other is a beautifull orange converted 240 to RPS180. he runs 15.0 flat.
most of the guys here in florida are getting thier SRs from shaddy corner shops that import them from Japan with like 130K miles or most have been sitting in a junkyard in the snow for over a year before they get pulled and shipped over here, they drop them in but its the same as if I went to the junk yard pulled out a used and beaten 4G63 and dropped it into my Starion. it wouldnt be faster, it would just be a worthless swap. I think an SR20 makes like 200-210 hp? the 3000GT makes 222 and mine is up to like 230.

The guy is obviously a tool. If I can run a 15.6 @88mph with my stock sr20 then I don't see how he'd have a problem beating you, unless he just doesn't have a clue or like you said bought a pos det, and probably doesn't even have it tuned.

i think it started cuz when kids lined up to street race at night it was hard to tell who won from the starting line so they'd say "whoever wins, throw on your hazards" then everyone started doing it cuz they thought it was cool or something. mark my words they'll be throwing on their hazard lights in the next F&F movie, i guarantee it.

Haha yah I know what you mean. The SR isn't some god damn magic ass motor that causes the car to become any more special than it would be had one just turbo'd the ka24de. With a hefty amount of bolt ons, boost up, good traction and tuning, then you're seeing significantly impressive numbers on the stock turbo. There have been too many who throw the SR in, and expect instant miracles. In a nutshell, many of the japanese turbo cars are 'caged' in stock form. You let them out of the cage on the other hand, and you have a completely different machine.

Did either of your buds get the swap done by XAT in tampa? I wouldn't reccomend them, I had my swap done there and wound up having to replace/add quite a bit of shit to get it running right, I was pissed.

You know that a kid around sarasota acquired a Skyline? Yup, just like Paul Walker. He payed WAY too much for a car that was flogged so much that you aren't even impressed when you see the rb26dett inside, as its in such bad shape. that sound when he shifts sounds more like a backfire to me. they usually sound like gunshots. anyways if hes backfiring that much, then his car is definitly totally out of tune.

There is no confusion...if some green riced out sentra claims 400hp, he could feather the clutch and still toppel you. Now with that much power in that light of a car there would be something evident to prove it (heftier rims, bigger exhaust, visible underbody downpipe...something). I actually came up across a guy who looked around his 20's in sarasota a couple months ago. He was in fact driving what looked to be an 05' GTO. The guy pulled up to me, asked if it was a turbo, I told him yes, but I wasn't going to run him, knowing he would kick my ass. Did your buddy have an rx-7 at one point? I think I remember the conversation ending with him telling me he used to have an rx-7 and wishing me good luck with my car, saying those turbos were fun.
