k so i let my brother drive my car to work about a week ago in ice and snow, he decided to pull an ebrake turn and ended up hittin the front passenger tire agaisnt a curb. so far the damage that i know of from looking is the passenger cv axle is broken and the passenger controlling arm is broke as well. figured easy enough to fix. but anyways i went out there today to fire it up and let it idle for a bit cuse it hasnt been started in a while. then i put it into gear and let the clutch out to see if the drivers side tire would move. no movment what so ever on the dirver side tire. but the speedo says its doing leik 40 km/h but on the passenger side u can see that the part of the axle comin outta the tranny is movin when its in gear. beofore the accident i was aware that the car would need new cv axles on both sides. Could it be the tranny got nudged and broke somithing inside of it, or both cv axles broken? any would would be much apreciated. thanks!

First mistake was letting your brother drive it in the snow and ice... Is it AWD or FWD? If its FWD then I'd say somethings broke in the tranny, if its AWD then I'd think more into the transfer case...

Well, I'm not 100% sure if its the axles or something inside the tranny... I'd inspect everything you can and see if anything else is cracked, split, or bent... It looks as if your gonna have to play some guessing games. Its just really hard to tell what it could be without seeing the extent of the damage and how the wheel actually hit the curb.

It sounds like everything inside your tranny is working fine since the vss is driven directly off of the differential and if that didnt spin then your speedo would read 0. I would suggest first replacing what you know to be broken(cv's tie rods ect) and go from there becasue the last thing you want to do is buy a new tranny when you dont need one

yah, i just talked to one of my friends and he was telling me something about it having a something differnential, open differential maybe? whitch would let just one wheel spin untill it grips or something. unless it has a limited slip differential in it. and since the cv axle is broken on the passenger side, it would just continue to spin. does this make sence?

yes, that most likely is the problem.

Yeah that definetly sound like the problem. When i wrecked my 90 eclipse the drivers side cv shaft was broken so i couldn't move the car at all.
ps you need to roundhouse kick your bro, or ask chuck to do it.

Yeah I agree with them. How fast were you going into the curb?
