2000 Caravan GC brake lights on

Okay, while I wait for my 2002 to get fixed, the wife's driving dad's 2000 GC. When the lights are turned on, the brake lights come on and get slightly brighter when the brake pedal is pressed.
It's not likely the switch because the brake lights work normally when the headlights/running lights are not turned on. Where might be a good place to start looking on this one?
Thanks,

Be sure the right bulbs are being used!

No bulbs have been changed recently. I'm fairly sure I remember following this van after dark and the brake lights weren't on all the time. My guess would be that now we have lots of snow and crap so there's a connection somewhere full of cheese. I'm just wondering where that could be?
Took a quick look at the fuses tonight but didn't have much time with 10" of snow to plow. Is it possible that a bulb is about to go and would cause the brake lights to come on with the running light switch?
Think I'm going to buy a horse tomorrow

If not the bulbs, You probably have a bad ground in the light circuit.

bigoldchevytoo - did you ever fix this? Was it the BCM? Mbriggs is having the same problem.

I never did get to figure it out. My brother (the mechanically inclined in the family) found some time to get at it.
Thanks for the input, I'll ask him what he had to do and try to get back to post the solution.....

Hey thanks for coming back. I have one guy I'm conversing with with the identical problem. I found out yesterday my neighbor has the same problem only it's very intermittent. We would all appreciate the help.

I have to say I've been on the forum about year now (consistantly) and have asked folks to come back and give the fix on an old thread several times. You are the first to come back and post. I really appreciate it. If you can get the info you'll be a King.

So as the story goes, it turns out this one was quite intermittent as well, nobody fixed it but the lights worked again for a while. Last week they're out again so I took a quick look. Quite a bit of green cheese on the connections in the light itself. Clean everything up and use dielectric silicone when putting bulbs in so that they don't grow cheese.

Mine started working fine about 3 weeks later. I checked the bulb sockets and they looked fine. Not sure what happened
