New BrakesRADMANX 12-14-2005, 03:56 PM My brakes are going out. My car shudders like hell when i stop, and the brake pads are starting to squeek BAD. how much should i expect to pay to get all 4 rotors and pads replaced???? should i buy the parts and go to a shop? or buy the stuff from the shop? david-b 12-14-2005, 04:21 PM Do it yourself. They're not hard, and you save a crap-load of money. If that is not an option, youll looking at about $400+ for a full brake job with parts and labor. If you do it yourself: Rotors (stock): $60 / pair Pads (ceramic): $40 / pair Total for all around: $200 SilvrEclipse 12-14-2005, 04:27 PM If your going to let a shop do it and you want to go back with all factory replacements, then just let the shop buy all the supplies. If you want upgrade, then you will need to provide the parts. ez1286 12-14-2005, 04:32 PM Shops=rape, rape=sore ass, do it yourself it's incredibly easy. You can get rotors for $20 a piece at rockauto.com and i wouldn't go with ceremic pads they eat the shit out of your rotors. david-b 12-14-2005, 04:53 PM What kinda pads would you go with then? SilvrEclipse 12-14-2005, 05:02 PM Im running Hawk hps pads. They dont wear out rotors fast, low dust, and no noise. david-b 12-14-2005, 06:49 PM How much for those bad boys? Las time I looked at "performance brake pads" the one shop wanted $110 for them. SilvrEclipse 12-14-2005, 07:30 PM They cost me about $125 for all of them. Thor06 12-14-2005, 08:29 PM Damn, I can replace all the pads, shoes, rotors, and drums (yes drums, fuckin pos) on my cavy for less then $100. Mike got all stock replacement rotors and pads for like $110-$120. Just do it yourself though man, I got quoted like $250 for pad and rotor replacements at a local shop. I did it in my driveway for $45 :D. RADMANX 12-15-2005, 12:00 AM I think i will do it myself considering i got a ticket for doing 67 in a 45 today. anyone have a link for a write up on changing pads and rotors? AbsoluteGTR 12-15-2005, 01:13 AM 67 in a 45, damn, that sucks balls, how much?? drdisque 12-15-2005, 04:19 AM hawk hps are hardly "low dust" (I have them) they're great pads for the money though Yeah, you can do a brake job for $100 if you buy no-name organic pads from Pep Boys/Autozone/Kragen/Murray's/Western Auto/Carquest but they won't really be what you're looking for if you look forward to driving your car rather than it being just transportation. If you don't want to shell out for Hawk's. I recommend Performance Friction (its a brand). vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
