95 4Runner Headgasket V6

I have a 95 4 Runner that just blew a head gasket. When I called Toyota Customer Service they said my VIN didn't fall under the "Headgasket Campaign". The panel on the door indicates a mfg. date of 1/95; just slightly missing the campaign. I'm driving down the hwy recently minding my own business and all of a sudden it overheats and blows a head gasket. This just doesn't sound right to me.

Toyota really didn't want to discuss it further with me. My question is for something so close to production that had head gasket problems, can I be confident that mine really didn't fall under the campaign? How can they simply go by the VIN when the motor wasn't necessarily mfg at the time the vehicle was. Should I pursue it with Toyota by submitting a letter and the $2400 worth of repair receipts? Think I have a chance at any recovery of expenses?

Thanks,
K

I just bought the 1992 Toyota 4runner from a private owner and when I check the oil dipstick there was sludge forming on the dipstik and no oil showed up so I added 2 qts. of motor oil, when I drove the truck it was so sluggish then I start out to use some motor flush and clean it up, so then I refill with some new oil, after a month the oil was so dark again then I repeated the oil change using flush and now the oil is on the right track again and now the truck run stronger after the oil change procedure, smooth and low engine noise... I believe the prevoise owner did not check all the work that it should be done, he even left some wiring that has fallen to the header and nearly burn that off and dirt was filling around the filter and I have to clean it and reuse, I have driven most car not just toyota to 200k mark with little or no problem and no sludge formating..!
