Have you checked the headlight switch to see if it is rotated to trun the dome light on?

The dome light triggers are located in the latch assembly of all 4 doors. You can try to open each one individually and close the latch with a screwdriver. Once closed, wiggle the claws some to see if the dome light comes back on. Don't forget to pull the handle to open the latch before closing the door and going to another.

Have any aftermarket products in the car like an alarm or remote starter?

I had what sounds like the same problem in my car '92 Bonneville SE. When I shut off my car, get out, and close the doors, the interior lights will come on (Almost all the time, unless I really slam the door). The lights stay on for about 30 seconds and then flick off. Usually they flick back on either instantly, or within 5 to 10 seconds or so.

We first had to replace the battery because it went dead, we then had to jump start the car a few times. We ended up taking out all of the interior lights ("Courtesy Lights/Lamps"), but it's a lame solution.

This weekend I started listening for the lights, and I could hear what sounded like a relay clicking on and off with the lights. I found out that under the passenger side dash (under the glove box) there is a relay/fuse panel. It is covered by a large black plastic cover in my car (held by 2 socket head/philips screws (7mm) closest to the seat, and a wingnut near the firewall).

Long story short, there is a courtesy lamp/Interior light relay in that panel that was buggered. We just happened to have a spare relay lying around from a chevy lumina, but i you don't have one you can just take out the relay. On the '92 it was the lower right side relay (when facing the panel) but there is a diagram on the before mentions black plastic cover.

We found that the relay only controls the interior lights when the car is off. Even with the relay removed the interior lights can be turned on via turning the headlight switch on top of the "Twilight Sentinel" dimmer.

I really hope this helps someone else out, as it was a total pain for me and my dad. Have a great day!
