:screwy: My wife was driving our 96 sport 3.3, she stoped at a traffic light shifted to "P" ( she was tired), and when the green lit up she shifted back to "D" the van moved a few meters then she heard some rattling muffled noise, later the engine was reving but the car was slowing to a stop. I checked for leaks there was none and the van moved even when it was on "P" as if it was on "N" its very strange to happen all of a sudden like that without any previous probelms. Can anybody help please, any ideas?????? :screwy: :screwy: :screwy:

I was having similar problems with my 97 GC. I'd put it in gear, it would move a few feet, then act as if it were in neutral.

Turns out I had a bad gasket and I was leaking transmission fluid. Check your transmission fluid level.

I agree, worse case could be the tourque converter.

Well you prolly already figured this out since your post was in 2004 sounds like the clip came off of the parking lock inside the tranny.
or it broke.if it won't go in "P" and sit still that's mostly controlled by
that lever as long as the linkage checks out and isn't unhooked anywhere.fluid doesn't control park .park shuts of the fluid .right ?
that reminds me I better chuck my wheels in the back now that I just unhooked my linkage .even though the emergency brake is on.I'm dropping this automatic 3 speed out of a voyager,(voyeurage.)
I came on to get some advice for the mount .I think I need only pull one bolt out of the mount ,above the tranny?

Hi I'm new to this site. I had a similar problem with a plymouth voyager, my wife was out shopping and had the van loaded down with groceries and the kids. it ended up being the flex plate that connects the torque convertor to the engine. It cracked and spun as if the transmission was slipping. Hope this helps.

Hi Caravan owners,
Thanks for your replies. Well after towing the van to the mechanic, it turned out that the drive axle sheared where there is a piece of rubber in the middle of of it ( it was corroded ) due to humidity or driving so much in the snow!! Maybe but it was really weired that a drive axle breaks off without any earlier signs or noise.. But this is a feedback for allof you guys driving in severe winter conditions. :icon16: :disappoin :naughty:
