im 16 and im just starting to get into cars andi was wondering where to go to learn all about the engines and everything on how they works so i can be in on the street racing community.

Well there certainly are a lot of materials for you to study. Books, car magazines, service manuals and even AF are but a few. Take a class in automotive basics at your community college if available. Also start making friends with local gearheads or home mechanics and help them work on their cars. First hand experience is best. Buy a cheap car that needs work and fix it up. :2cents:

yeah definately buy an old car that is very simple with which you can learn a lot and not care if u break something. im only 17, bought an old 73 chevy truck to learn crap on a couple years ago, and now im learning a lot of "Dont do this" type stuff about restoration. fun stuff. definately get a car like the type you want to learn. also, look in your local library for a good book called "Souping the Stock Engine" or something like that. it goes into great detail with regard to racing cams, heads, and all kinds of stuff. written in the early 50's before the smallblock chevy even existed, but still, it is relevant to todays engines. definately a must-read
