Thanks...When I was in high school I started buying project vettes and restoring them. Man, now I wish I had never sold some of them. I was at an auction last summer and a '65, just like the one I had, all original with low miles, sold for 76,000 USD:eek:

Well, if it were a split window coupe it would be, but mine was a convertible. The '65 was worth more because it was a 427. Damn I miss that car:(

Get some pics if you can. As far as I know, there is only one in all southern New Brunswick :(. It's cool though, it's a dark blue coupe with just a little teeny rear spoiler that just accents the rear instead of dominating it. That car is sweet. I was actually looking to buy one, but they didn't make very many, and I can't now anyway :(

I come from a Ford family and had a Ford before I had Holdens. I strayed for a few years :D

Yep you guessed right, I am older than you - by 3 years (me is very intrigued to know how you found that from my profile! :p) and yes only owned the 2 cars! I lived in Aussie for most of my life and never needed a car over there because we lived so close to transport (and if I did need one, I borrowed Dad's). Only moved to New Zealand 5 years ago and I had my Mazda for 4 of those years and bought the FTO last year. :D

1. 1968 Camaro- nothing special, 350 4bbl, lookd good but ran for crap (should have never sold it- cash was tight:( )
2. 1976 Malibu 4Dr- rusty, 350 2bbl , AM radio and 4drs- was a teenager at the time-not exactly an image car but probably one of my favorites that I've owned-great beater car:D
3.1979 Monte Carlo- 267 V8. That's all I need to say about that.
4.1986? Pontiac 6000- Boring car-no memories associated with it.
5.1990 S-10 4x4 extended cab- was in Alaska at the time with the Air Force. First ever 4x4 I owned and in Alaska- Bad combination-mannnny tow bills.
6.1987 IROC Z-28- 5.7 litre TPI engine-another one of my favorites-would like to have another one someday.
7.1979 F-100 Pickup 2x4- Lift kit, 33's, 390 ci and pretty much cobbled together by previous owners-paid $500 and kept it about 6 months
8.1989 Plymouth Sundance- 4cyl severly underpowered- another decent beater
9.1995 S-10 2x4- 4cyl, 5spd, great gas mileage, good looking truck with factory alloy wheels and a little wider rubber.
10.1994 Pontiac Grand Am GT- Will never own another one- to many problems to list
11.1972 Monte Carlo- Original 402 Big Block massaged to dyno at 506 horse and 490+ lb/ft torque, turbo 400 w/ 3000 stall, 12 bolt rear with Auburn posi and 4.10's. Fun car but would be better if it wouldn't require 110+ octane
12. 2001 Dodge Ram Off Road 4x4- First ever New Vehicle and would not give it up. 360ci, auto, 4.10's. Soon to come will be headers and a full dual exhaust, possibly computer chip to liberate a few more horsepower.

A little updating -
Sold the Altima 6/12 - God, the torque-steer was scary! The wife hated the car and I hated the disconnected steering feel. The Alero was better!
Sold the '69 Camaro 7/19 to help finance dream-house, the car was to much to maintain in that condition AND the temptation to modify killed me!!
Bought a Jetta GLI VR6 24V 6/14 - Just as fast as the Altima but much more fun to drive and it's built 100 times better!

Considering an Acura TL.....

Currently, I do have 3 generations of RX-7 and do not intend to sell off any one of them. I am a rotary fan also RX-7 collector.

In order of purchase:

1990 RX-7 Turbo II - weekend car and special occasion like my car club gathering, car shows and club street drag racing.

1993 RX-7 R1 - daily driver so left it std (no mods) just a couple like HKS twin power filter, hks super sqv bov, 280hp type rs sequential twin turbo, hks hiper exhaust system and other non-performance related accessories.

1985 RX-7 GSL-SE - 13B engine rebuilt, exterior/interior in progress of repairing in workshop.

You do like that RX for sure. Not a bad choice at all :)

1st vehicle: '79 Chevette - The Brown Torpedo - That thing was tough as hell. I beat the crap out of it for a year and all that I had to replace was the starter.

OTOH, many of the cars I've owned weren't 'classic' in any sense what I drove them, the Sunbeams aside. And the Chrysler I inherited from my grandfather; it was given to me, the alternative would have been to junk it -- barge though it was, I wish I had it today.

i fogot 2 but they were never used on the roads as i wasnt aloud to register 1 cause it didnt comply with the road rules and the other only lasted me 2 days

13B powered VW beetle with 650 holly (ask any one whos had a rotary and you can guess how many bags of cement went in the front just to keep the wheels on the ground)

and the other is a Vauxhaul Viva (pommie version of the first Torana it got taken out bush and hammered till it died)

There are over a hundred cars I've owned on this list, and that doesn't include the parts cars, and non-runners that have passed through my hands. Some only stayed for a short while, while I customized them and sold them (mostly the VWs). There is a lot of overlap, as many cars were owned at the same time (in different roles). Some of the autocrossers only lasted a couple of events before they were either deemed uncompetetive, or were sold for business expenses (this was while I had my own custom shop...)

As I said, these are cars I've owned since '78, but not all at once! :) At the top of that list is all that are in my stable right now. That means there are only 4 at my house now (not counting the couple I'm working on for friends, and the Fiat parts car for the one I drive...) The rest are cars I've owned in the past.

In a lot of cases, yes. Especially the VWs and mini trucks. I've got so many ideas for customs that I do an idea, then sell it to do the next...

A couple were kept around for years, however: THe V8 RX7 was with me from '93 to '98, which was a record. the '74 91 was around for 3 years (a couple of them at the same time as the V8 RX7), and a number were around for 2+ years each (the Ranger, SVT, Caddy, Daytona Spyder replica, Falcon lowrider, '81 Citation, first Pinto, etc). But yea, not too many of them were around for more than a few months befopre moving to the next (and I usually would have 5-6 cars at any given time....)

I havent actually owned any cars b/c im only 15 3/4, the first time when I drove was when I was 14 when I took my moms car lol. Anyway im going to aquire a 95 Cavalier as soon as go to driving school, get my License on Aug.9, and insurance. Since I have my temps I usually drive the Cavalier or a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant. I drove 10 hours from Cleveland Ohio where I live to N. Calorina w/ no breaks on our way to Florida, I think thats pretty good for someone that still has there temps lol. Anyway I plan to get a import car, got 5k saved up so...any advice to which car I should get? I want a Eclipse GS-X or GS-T, or RSX...I dunno to many to choose from...

Newsflash- 5k won't even nearly get you an RSX or Eclipse- besides- something cheap and easy to run around in like a VW Golf or Honda Civic would be a better car for a 16 year old

The VW Golf is not a bad car but the Golf III has a very bad handling.
Take a 405 Mi16 if you find it, not very expensive in the US, surely under 6 k$ ;)

You like them Fiero GT's Blue02R6? we used to have one. They are pretty quick. We installed an exhaust system on it and you could really notice a power increase. most ever by any car i have done an exhaust system too.

Hey! Don't knock JB Camira's. They're awesome. Pure chick magnets. It had a cool stereo but it was stolen. The Commodore was a straight six. Rather grunty.

I have some pretty decent upgrades, and Im now debating on a supercharger. Im running around 395-405 HP to the rear wheels..depending on the new exhaust, but I havent had it redyno'd yet since I just moved to Germany. It runs great, and tears up the Autobahn ;)

Wow! 1990? I remember when those things came out new. Has it been that long? Man, I must be getting old.

Yeah I remember that too, and I always wanted one. I was kind of hopeing it would be a little bit faster though. Oh well, it's still a fun truck.

Well a 454 has a lot of potential. I think a regular Paxton or Vortech Supercharger should be good for 100 additional horsepower. Given the relatively low compression ratio of the 454SS, it should be ideally suited!

Luckily the stock block is a four bolt main. So I'll start with a 496 stroker kit with good heads. That rebuild should get me and least 600 hp at the crank. I could run mid to low 12s. Then, if 12s aren't fast enough, I was thinking about changing the setup to run a centrifugal SC. :)

Nice car, sorry about the speeding ticket! You'll need to come over here and drive on the Autobahn. You can drive 150mph all day long, providing the traffic conditions permit it. I do it once in a while. The fastest that I've ever gone was 260km/h (159mph), according to my speedometer. I don't have the whale tail on the car, so it tends to be a handfull to drive over 135mph when you encounter a crosswind or a curve.

I'm sure I've posted my list in this thread, but it's somewhat outdated by now, so I'll re-do it

My first ever car was a 1989 Mazda 323 1.3, it was gutless, heavy-handed and boring, it ended up crashed into a pine tree, shame really as when I did it, it was still worth something.

Then I got a 1988 Yugo 45 Handihatch, kept it for 10 years, it was trashed to death and I tried to make it into a racing car, unfortunately, I wasn't quite as good at the engineering as I am today. I ended up pushing it down a bank while it was on fire.

Following that I got a 1993 Renault 19 RXE manual, was a pretty good car, I was in Uni when I got it, tried all kinds of crazy stuff in it, yeah, it's not still on the road today, no fault of mine.

My dad gave me our old 1992 Audi 80 for graduation (from Uni) so I had a good luxury ride for a while, however on New Years Eve 1999, the thing almost killed me when a milk tanker forgot to give way.

While I had the Audi, I also bought a Toyota Corolla FX-GT (1996) which was a 2 year old used import fresh off the boat, which I sold when I got my Hyundai.

I was living in the South Island at the time I bought a much pre-loved 1988 Toyota Pickup- VERY tough, got me where I was going with plenty of durability, but I decided to replace it at 400,000 k's and had a tough time selling it.

I also went a little V8 crazy and ended up with a 1994 Ford Falcon XR8- yeah had a big-bore, headers and intake etc, but it got written off when some fag-boys in a CRX Lost control of thier car (Understeer) and hit my parked Falcon.

I also was going to try my hand at Import tuning, but I never had the cash or experience to make the 1995 Honda Prelude EXi I bought, any interesting.

In 1996 I FINALLY got my first company car, I chose a Renault Laguna 2.0 Manual, very reliable car, but my first ever new car was a good experience.

I never did like the Corolla FX-GT much, so I sold it to some drop-kcik bougan and bought a depriciated Hyundai Coupe FX Manual- AWESOME car- gave me endless fun and it was a rewarding drivers car.

SOon after the Hyundai, my grand father, an avid car collector died, leaving me a 1967 Ford Mustang Convertible, in dire need of resotration and a 1971 BMW 2002 tii- but this was no ordinary tii- it was a Turbocharged (after-market Turbo, not factory) model bought in from Germany many years previous, I went many years thinking it was a Genuine 2002 Turbo, but a check of the records, tells me it is not. I still own the 2002, it's in storage and the Mustang was sold onto a collector before I moved to Italy.

In 1998 I got another company car, this time a new Ford Mondeo ST24 V6, very nice car to drive indeed, it was simply stunning in other words, Rapidspec bodykit was also fitted. Yeah, gave it back to the company at the end of 2001, got my new company car.

Like I said above the Toyota truck, was getting on and it needed a replacement, cue a two year old Ford Courier XLT, did it's job, but wasn't the best thing I've ever driven. Sold it when I emigrated to Italy.

In 2001 I got my first new-luxury car a Peugeot 607 V6 SE, was quite a damn good car, put on a Sports exhaust, rims, air filter, tame bodykit and tints, looked very much the part. Reatined about 90% of it's value when sold 1 3/4 years later.

Before I left, I helped a friend out of the financial shitter by buying his JC Mazda Cosmo with a 20B, the 20B was rooted though and I Was emigrating as this happened, so it was off to the scrap yard.

Then I moved to Italy, to work for FIAT, I got a 2002 Green Alfa Romeo Turismo 2.5 V6 as a company car, however a lorry rear ended me and destroyed it. Had very minor mods.

I also in Italy needed something to Carry my loads, so I bought a 1998 FIAT Marea JTD Weekend, which did it's job great, until I decided I didn't need it anymore.

The insurance from my last 156 (company policy) got me a red 2003 Alfa Romeo 156 2.5 Sportivo- I took off the tacky body kit, put in some ICE, tweaked the engine and susension and dressed it up a little. I gave it back to the company a month ago, on resignation.

I then bought a 1989 FIAT Uno diesel to tie me over, I bought it for 50 Euros and basically plan t destroy it.

And finally my current car, a 2001 BMW 330Ci 5 speed manual. Brilliant car, very sleek, stylish, but is also a used car, so I won't keep it long, warranty about to run out.

The Uno committed suicide late last year, bought a 1994 Honda Civic 1.4i to try and keep the fuel bills down (Fuel here is VERY expensive), it's actually kind of nifty- a 5 door hatch UK built model, picture a Rover 45 with a Honda Domani front end and you're there. Hard to get parts for though.

I have to agree, there are some very unlikely lists of cars going on here from people barely old enough to drive, I think some people may have included thier mum & Dads cars. unless your very very lucky or very rich, who on earth has a Merc CLK for there first car (insurance compainies would just laugh at you here if you went for a quote on one of those for your fist ride). I`ve been driving for almost 14 years now, have what I consider a well paid job and couldnt afford to run half the cars that are on some of these lists, But here`s my list of cars to date. No laughing please.

1) Ford Fiesta 1.9D (learned to drive in this)
2) Peugeot 205 D (slow as shit, snapped timing belt ended its life)
3) Peugeot 205XS (fastish but full of problems, should have learned from my first Pug)
4) Peugeoty 205 1.9Gti (very fast, turned out to be a few cars welded together so does that count as one or three? Will I ever learn)

Well, I'm 36 now and only 2 maybe 3 of my cars were ever brand new or nearly new. Most of the cars I owned were bought severly used and if I found a good deal on something less severely used, I would sell the current POS and buy the next POS. This is why I have had so many cars. I wish I could find something I really liked and was really dependable so that I could keep it for a long time.

Balcsgirl - your old enough and wise enough to have owned the cars you list, plus it dosnt read like a list of cars from the film "Gone in 60 seconds" unlike some, who like i said earlyer must be rich or lucky. (just look out for another Dodge Colt)

I joke about my yard, it looks like I'm Noah collecting 2 of every car before the flood. I bought the first '97 Venture in 1998 used w/ 16000 miles, then 3 years later bought another one to drive for only $4900 w/ 148000 miles on it ( salesman's van.) The Bel Air and Torino are "project cars." and I just bought the second Buick Lesabre on eBay for only $69! The car is in great shape body and interior wise. The engine has 152000 miles and turns over well but doesn't start, ( might be coil problem.) I bought it for parts, but if I can get it running, I might use it to drive. I often get asked, "Just how many cars do you need?" LOL
