This stupid car is making me nuts. I may be driving 75 or 35....and it just dies. I can give it a couple of seconds...and it usually starts back up. It may do it once a month..or once a day. The computer reads nothing on this car. We just replaced a fuel filter, and was told..that generally a fuel pump follows..but they say..they cannot find it. Does ANYONE...have clue what is wrong with my precious junker?

Thanks...
PJ

Hey PJ-

Your era Monte was really bad about losing ground at one of the fuse blocks. It would cause the car to go dead, or not start at all. I had the same problem with my 2000 M/C SS. You can find TSB's about it from GM. There was not a recall to my knowledge. I had the fuel pump and filter replaced under warranty when I was having the problem but they finally found the problem with one of the fuse blocks. Hope this helps.

It's more than likely your crankshaft position sensor. It will cause the car to die without sending any code or anything. There are things on the internet that tell you how to replace it yourself - it's not all that hard or expensive.
