engine cuts out...

Well guys i am back again...i have everything set up now...I put in the cold air intake tube that was designed for the civic and have the k+n filtercharger kit on as well...but it is now about a month later and i am starting to notice problems...my main noticable prob. right now is when i dedcide to give my car more gas...i accelerate harder, and i reach about three and a half grand and my engine cuts in and out...almost like you can hear a poping backfire up front...i dunno if i am getting to much air in the mixture or what the deal is...i would like to know b/c this car is my life blood right now and i need it working...any help would be appreciated...thanx

haven't taken the time to take it in as of yet...that would be the most obvious answer, but being a poor right out off college student doesn't help the issue...anyhow i will prolly budge and just take it in...but before i do any possible answers?

Autozone will pull the codes for free, that'l make a good starting point.

ok took into autozone and the prob. is this...if the check engine light isn't on then they aren't able to pull any codes from my car...i have new spark plug wires on the way and hope that it will solve the prolem...just hopeing beyond all hope that it isn't the timing belt...stinkin dual overhead cam...:P
