hi all,
have noticed that this topic crops up frequently....I can guarentee that there is a way around the problem with the keys,so if you are stuck ,first change the battery in your remote, whilst its open, there should be a small number written on it,take that to your local renault dealer, along with your log book and some I.d..He will after every possible reason not ,have to give you a 4 digit code,he should not charge you,and he has to give it to you under the data protection act(information held on record about your car),and no he won't like it.
Take this code, which ,like a stereo ccode can be input through the central locking button.,as has been discussed on this forum previously.I have been driving my car around like this for about 6 months,as have not had the time or money to sort out the problem...My keys will not re sync...so I suspect mu decoder board....although it is dry...!.
I have however now suffered a problem with the fuel pump not running ,although nthe pump checks out fine..am hoping this is not connected...will not give up ..ooked the pump off a temp supply !!!

please contact me if you want to know more.....!!

This is my first time writing here. On Sunday the 29/01/06 I was in a store when I returned to my car I couldn't activate the central locking this also disables the Immobiliser. I had to get a lorry to take me & my car home. 5 hours in the cold is no fun. All this because I didn't have the 4 digit code. When you purches a Renault they should give you a scratch card with the 4 digit number that only you should know. I am now in contact with Renault who say they don't give this number out for security. What a load of bull shit. I have now sent them a final email saying they are holding my car to ransom & I will be contacting trading standards & watchdog. Many people on here are having problems with thier keys. I can only persume that they want me to pay for them to come & collect it. Anyone who doesn't have the 4 digit number to deactivate the Immobiliser should get it now b4 it is to late.

06/02/06 Ok got number on Saturday was so easy to do Just took logbook & keycode, keycode was found on the back of the circuite board in the key. This wasnt a main dealership. They did want to charge £10 for admin didnt pay why should I.

How exactly do you enter this code? I've seen two version about how to do that - doorlock button/clutch pedal, or pressing door lock button? Can you explain it step by step, please? I've got the code now. Thanks for advice.

Hi there, sorry for the delay,I only have email at work,

The code can be entered on my car a 96 p plate laguna ,through the central locking button in the centre console,by the hazard lights.
I simply followed the steps given from this forum, but to re-cap you turn the ignition on,and the red led will flash fast.hold the button down ,and it will go out, then count the flashes until you have put in the first digit, then release the button and then press down and hold it again until you have entered the 2nd,and so on,then when you have entered all the digits the led will come on and then go out if you have been successful,if you got it wrong it will flash quickly.

I am still driving my car in this way.....it is a pain..but the car is not worth the cost of getting renault to sort...I have messed around with a few 2nd hand plip units but no success,I suspect my decoder board is duff.

The fuel pump problem wasnt connected to this issue ,although I found that the pump doesnt kick in until after the car has initially started........a replacement pump was sourced from a renault breakers on the A5 near hockliffe in beds.
