Wouldn’t they have the same sized housings anyway? Capt.Moe 12-09-2005, 10:54 PM Does any one know the reason you need to swap tranys when doing the na/turbo swap? Different Gearing that better works with the tranny. fcdriver 12-10-2005, 01:28 AM The n/a tranny won't hold up to the trq of the turbo engine. drftk1d 12-13-2005, 12:54 AM you dont "need" to swap trannies but its the best option. heres what you can do: a) keep entire n/a drivetrain but just change the motor only. good if you are nice on the car and dont intend to modify it b) swap whole drivetrain to turbo drivetrain heres what you cant do: use the turbo transmission with n/a rear, and vice versa why: driveshaft is different size, you need a custom driveshaft edit: dont quote me but i think you can use a slightly modified driveshaft from an automatic Fc use n/a rear with turbo axles and vice versa why: axels are totally different sizes best option if you are on a tight budget is a) best option overall is b) since you dont risk breaking anything vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
