1998 Jimmy SLS Rear Defogger\DefrosterCanukGMC 12-07-2005, 09:54 AM Hey guys, I'm new to the forum (but not new to forums in general) and I'm glad I found a good place to research stuff on my -new to me- 98 Jimmy. I've searched and found little to no info on my specific problem so here goes... My rear defroster doesn't appear to be working. When I put the defroster button (below the fan\heat controls) the orange light turns on but nothing else happens and the window stays fogged\frosted up no matter how long I leave it on. I've checked the fuses on the side of the dash and under the hood, all relating to the rear grid seem to be fine. Any ideas? I have heated mirrors, are they on the same circuit? Maybe I blew a fuse for one of the mirrors? Hi, I had a 93 one of the power wires to the window grid had broke in side of the insulation, just another thing to check, also check the slide on connectors. ( could be corroded) I believe ther is a ground on one side and power on the other. Hope this helps, Photohawk CanukGMC 12-16-2005, 02:15 PM Thanks for the tip, I'm going to go check the leads and the grid as soon as I figure out wtf is wrong with my wipers, good ol electrical issues are always fun. ChrisGood 12-16-2005, 02:59 PM Might not help too much because I dont remember details but using a multimeter/ volt-ohm meter you should be able to check the voltage on the grid, might be a scratched line in the grid needs to be fixed vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
