Hey, I usually post on the Silverado forum, but I have a chance to buy a used police car from our town, (I work for them and I can get it for a steal) It's a 1998 Chevy Lumina Police Package. It has a Supercharged 3800 V-6 in it and they will scream. The dash is all digital, and it has bucket seats with a console in the middle. (I rode in one during a police chase and we got the car up over 120mph!) I'll get pics as soon as I can. So does anyone have one?

i have one. same year. bought it with 92k now has 130. had to put on all new brakes and front rotors (they let the pads go metal to metal). and i think they just threw on bald tires while they were at it before they sold it. otherwise have been pretty happy, i like driving it. good power. i just replaced the water pump this week, the turn signal is giving me probs, had to do a work around to get the brake lights going again, abs never goes off and check engine like is on and indicates either a O2 sensor or catalytic converter issue-not sure. oh also i never fixed the back doors so they open from the inside. but again knocking on wood, i've been really happy driving it. btw, i'm pretty sure mine is not supercharged. it is the 3800 series II though, how can you tell yours is? and how much are you getting it for?

so thats mine...my dad has 2 and my bro has 1. we all have had seperate issues. bros paint is peeling really bad but otherwise drives great. dad had an issue with lurching/or jerking in trans which hasn't been fixed yet on one. and something with stalling from time to time in the other...he is trying to resolve that. i just found this forum so maybe he can explain it on here and someone can help him out.

I was told it was supercharged, I got to look at it today and it's not, just a 3800 S2. It has 102,000 miles on it. It comes with all the radios and lights on it. They keep the siren though. (It's illegal for VFD members to use a siren in Indiana) Anyway, I think I can get it for 1500. It has a small transmission problem, but if you drive it easy it will run fine. It's gonna have a hole in the back of the roof to patch from a radio that I don't get, but that's okay. And this one the back doors will open from the inside. Oh, and I got to fix the dash the "passenger" in the front seat kicked the shit out of it. There is a dent on the top from someones head and a dent on the fender from the same. They also have a Caprice for sale, but it's a worn out POS!

I've got a lumina 9C3 as well. Blue interior with inoperable rear doors and windows, full size spare, A pillar spotlight, 3.8L V6, bucket seats and caprice wheel covers. I bought it 3 years ago with 119,843 miles.Today it has 194,067 miles. GREAT car! had a few minor repairs, starter, tires, tranny at 150,000. That's about it.

I'm not sure, but the inop rear doors may be just the child safety switch in the door jam. GM put it there to keep misbehaving children from opening the door. Works to keep criminals in too. Open the rear door and look for a switch just above/below the latch. On my Grand Prix, it's just below the latch, but your Lumina may be different.

$1500 is not too bad, btu really isn't what I would call a "steal" either. I recently got a '96 for $1700 from a used lot, so I know I paid a little more to help them clear out their old inventory. All it needed was a little cleaning and rear strut mount plates to fix the "mystery knock" that they couldn't pinpoint. No dents, no rust, no problems other than normal wear. The Buick V-6 is a nice "plus" and should last a long time if it wasn't abused. I'd be concerned about that "little" transmisison problem, though.
