1999 Monte Carlo Battery Drainingmonty99 12-04-2005, 10:32 AM I purchased a 99' Monte Carlo in August. Since then it has been back to the shop 5x, because something is draining the battery. Car is totally dead after a few days. Mechanics have been trying to figure it out, and when they think they have the answer, it happens again. Is this common for my car? When purchased it only had 32,800 miles on it. Is there something the mechanics are missing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. :p diesel1962 12-05-2005, 05:53 PM Hello.Did the mechanics test or replace the alternator?? Diesel 1962 monty99 12-05-2005, 06:51 PM The 3rd time I brought it in, they told me it was the power locks that were draining the battery! So they fixed that. When it went back the other day for the fourth time, I got a call saying that it was they're fault because they forgot to hook the alternator up after they found the problem. Supposedly it's going to be ok now. I'm leaving now to pick it up. If number 5 happens, they are going to keep their car! Yes, this is a reputable place! :uhoh: Hello.Did the mechanics test or replace the alternator?? Diesel 1962 diesel1962 12-06-2005, 08:15 PM Hello.I hope thats all it was!! Diesel1962 keildl 01-04-2006, 02:06 PM Never had that with my car. You probably have a short somewhere in the system and the battery is losing the charge. Or the alternator is bad. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
