HVAC control swap

Anyone know anything about the HVAC control?

I don't care for the one that I have on my 93 at all. there are only 6 buttons in a line, and I don't have the option to defrost and run any vents at the same time. I was wondering if the newer controls use the same wires and vacuum hoses in the back, so I can just hook up a newer unit. I'm counting on having to swap out the harnesses for both, but idk - I haven't looked up closely at the back of one of the newer models, yet.
